All is working as expected
Longevity and reliability.
Great delivery time and response to my queries.
I chose WD for they have never failed me as other drives have failed. I hope to update this review in a couple of years and report on the status of this drive.
Doing LLM training and needed to use a 35TB training file and 3TB validation file. Used 3 of these drives to create a RAID 0 drive with approx 54TB capacity. (this is on Ubuntu and formatted with XFS file system since usual EXT4 tops out at about 16TB file size.) Works great and much faster than a single drive would be due to the striping of RAID 0.
I have to say that this is the biggest drive ive ever bought and it works great, noisy clickibg noises but no problems other then the annoying clicking while gaming, so i turn up the speakers and it works.
Well, I have to say I am impressed with this hard drive. While I do not have a security setup this drive is running in my main home network computer as a shared storage. Lots of reading and writing to it for storage of music, pictures, movies, and system backups. I have to say it handles all of it with ease. Its very fast even for only being a 5400 rpm hard drive. This drive is faster in reads and writes than my systems 640gb western digital blue 7200 rpm hard drive. With 1 terabyte of storage space it has plenty of room for all my networks needs. On my system it runs at Sata 3gbs speeds I can just imagine how much faster it would be if I had Sata 6gbs ports for it to be connected to. Very quiet drive so far with my experience with it, unlike some drives I have had that you could actually hear operating, when reading or writing to them. Now as I have said I use it for my home networks shared storage device, I can attest to the fact it handles everything, and as such if you set it up for a security systems drive it would handle all your data needs for recording video 24/7. Nice 3.5 inch drive whatever your needs may be.
-Fast (150-200Mbps sustained transfer speeds). -High capacity, 9.3TB of usable space on mine with 2 partitions. -High median time to failure (MTTF), vital for important or large data storage. -Quiet, my PC sits on the desk and my ear is literally two feet away. I can't hear it. -Western Digital brand confidence, odds are you are getting a good, tested, quality product -Bump protection, and other enterprise-grade features. -Temperatures are warm but not hot.
So far the drive seem to be functioning well, ask again in 6 monthd
Extremely fast data transfers. I have these connected in a RAID6 using an Intel RAID controller and see read and write speeds well over 700 MB/s. As other have mentioned, these are much more reliable than any Seagate out there.
The drives worked despite the packaging. They all passed the exercise process that takes days. Great system NAS drives
Good to go
Seagate drives in my Qnap NAS seem to die at an alarming rate. One by one Ive been replacing them with these WD drives and have never been disappointed.
Purchase four hard drives for my surveillance system. And, have not had an issue thus far.
