- Well packaged and worked perfectly - Easy to setup - Added some really nice WD 2TB Red Pros NAS drives - Joined to AD domain with no issue
Overall, no complaints here about the unit, the software, the packaging, etc. To be very honest, I'm new to having a NAS device, never had one before, though I wished I could've been able to do so earlier. That out of the way, the DS224+ was super simple to set up and get going, right out of the box. I had chosen to skimp a little bit on the drives I am using initally, WD Red Plus drives, 2x 8TB, instead of the WD Red Pro drives of the same capacity, as my budget was fairly tight. As an aside, I found this unit a few dollars cheaper here than on some other competitors sites, and have had nothing but good experiences with NewEgg over the past fifteen years or so, so I bought it here. To say the shipping experience was also good might be an understatement, it was early, and packaged well.
- Fast - Simple - Work A1
I'm a real novice when it comes to any type of networking but I found the machine setup simple enough for even me to understand. Over all, I'm pleased with the software and I'm able to do what I wanted to do on my local network..
Very sleek and sturdy design. Supports 3.5" and 2.5" drives with no adapter needed (Huge Pro for me) Quiet (Talk about quiet...) The design on the drive trays with included rubber vibration dameners is amazing. Can't hear the 4 7200 RPM drives at all. Fans are also super quiet. Now, let's talk about the software. This thing has more features built in to it, just straight out of the box, than any other consumer grade NAS I have worked with. I thought WD NAS's were great.... Honestly, the options in this one is WAAAYY better. If you are on the fence about buying one of these, jump down and go buy it. I have worked with NAS's like NetApp and the like, and this is probably one of the best consumer grade products that I have seen. I am definitely sold on these products and plan to buy the expansion modules for this ASAP and fill em with drives....
It just works. And in the computer world thats a big win. Runs as fast as a local hard drive.
I was able to replace 2 Raspberry Pi's and a repurposed older desktop with a single compact machine that is SO much easier to maintain. Why did I wait this long?
Good Interface, stable product, great price, good online Video training, easy to setup for basic functions, easy to link to vie home network, TV connections. Quite and good power management.
Was very easy and seamless to expand my 718+ Disk Station
Affordable. And works very well
- Well made - Nice little heatsink on the chip. - Fast ... really fast !
Easy to set-up Easy to be used by any devices Easily support 6 users ( 4 iphones + 2 android + 5 window laptop + 2 macosx + 2 fire tv) backup and streaming)
You're good! With some Exos drives, that can handle 240+MB/s each, fill it up, and you'll see some pretty great speeds from this NAS. (If you buy the 10g NIC.) Granted, I bought the 10g NIC for it. But, it only comes with 4GB RAM... I've got another 16g on the way. I've P2V'd both of my computers onto the NAS before wiping them clean, and starting fresh. (Physical to virtual.) The NAS is very slow to run a single VM on 4GB of RAM. But, it works! Didn't get the VM network set up yet, so I just plugged in a USB drive into my NAS, and connected it to the VM. Copy the data, and use the USB drive to copy back and forth.
Works as describe
The product was easy to set-up for someone like me who is not a computer expert but with an above average level of computer knowledge.
Happy to have 6 gb total all working ; didnt want to take a risk to go above 6 gb that isnt on the compatibility list
