Much Needed

XIGMATEK ACK-I7751 Retention Bracket
XIGMATEK ACK-I7751 Retention Bracket

Pros: Absolutely needed if you want to reduce the chip temperature since it greatly helps with the contact between the HS/F and CPU. Uses the screws (obviously) instead of the dreaded push pin system. Push is pin alright if you do not overclock or do not have a need for lower temperatures.

Cons: I know that it has been stated many times, but this bracket should be included with some of Xigmatek's HS/F product lines. The main reason why somebody would purchase a Xigmatek HS/F is for the higher end CPU cooler. Just looking at Xigmatek's offerings on Newegg I can see the HDT-S1283 is the most popular Xigmatek CPU cooler by far. The HDT-S1283 is considered a higher end cooler and a person without the need for a performance computer will most likely not even consider coolers this big. A person who does buy the HDT-S1283 demands cooling efficiency and the bracket obviously increases the efficiency by a large margin (from professional to end user reviewers, like you and I).

Overall Review: If you want to reuse your bracket, then do not remove the sticker covering. I used the sticky part on my motherboard (new build), but then it turns out I needed to get it RMAed. Unfortunately removing the stuck bracket is a pain and you cannot reuse the bracket since the pad is destroyed. I did manage to get another bracket from Xigmatek by mailing them my used bracket. Your particular method for applying thermal paste may not work well with the Heat-pipe direct touch HS/F. Do some research if you do get a HDT cooler.

Warranty Issues...

Western Digital Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Just read the other reviews: High reliability, great storage, fast, 5 year warranty, etc. But the downfall many of you guys do not know about...

Cons: Heat and ... Western Digital likes to randomly take away your warranty duration. I had a WD 1TB Green and the 3 year warranty got decreased to < 1 yr for absolutely no reason. I emailed them and they said it was a pull from an external. They must of edited the information since I previously checked the warranty and it showed the correct model # and warranty duration. The only way to get it back was for me to exchange it with the merchant I purchased it from, and even the store merchant acknowledged WD's foul play! Now for the WD 1TB Black... Go back to the older Newegg reviews and you will see WD ripped off a bunch of buyers by setting the warranty length at 3 years instead of 5 years. You had to email them (maybe more than once) to get the full 5 years back... I also had the same problem. My brother had to go through BBB. Since the WD 1TB Green incident I PDF all my warranty pages. Today I found out one of my 1TB Blacks had 3 months of warranty disappear...

Overall Review: When you purchase your WD hard drive make sure to submit your invoice/receipt to WD to update the warranty duration. You can get quite a bit of time added to your drive's warranty! Please print screen or PDF the webpage of your WD hard drive's warranty. WD is known to change the warranty duration randomly and their customer service representatives do not know what is going on. If they change the model number associated with your drive's serial number than you are probably out of luck as the customer services representatives are quite stubborn. With the print screen/PDF, you will have proof and hopefully can make an argument with WD corporate. If you already have purchased a WD hard drive please go and check your warranty. Make sure it is the correct model number, and hopefully you already have checked the warranty duration when you received it and know what date it was roughly. Again remember to update your warranty with your invoice/receipt... Get the extra warranty time.

MSI - MPG A1000GS PCIE5, 80+ Gold Full Modular Gaming PSU, Dual 12V-2x6 Cables, 5090 5080 ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 Ready. Embossed Jacket Cables. 1000W Power Supply, 10 Year Warranty

Pros: Looks great. Has zero fan switch. ATX 3.1 which pairs well with RTX 5000 series. Dual 12V-2x6. Color coded 12V-2x6 to make sure it is plugged in all the way. Gold rated. 10 year warranty.

Cons: Kind of pricey for a 1000W, but it does have the features to back it up.

Overall Review: I highly recommend this PSU to any potential buyers as it has plenty of power, ATX 3.1, dual 12V-2x6 (also dual color), it just has all the features you need.

First time using a 4K OLED monitor, my eyeballs love it!

MSI 32" 240 Hz OLED UHD Gaming Monitor Adaptive Sync MPG 321CURX QD-OLED
MSI 32" 240 Hz OLED UHD Gaming Monitor Adaptive Sync MPG 321CURX QD-OLED

Overall Review: I highly recommend making the jump to MSI's 321CURX 32" 240Hz 4K OLED monitor and I say this migrating from a four year old 27" IPS 144Hz gaming monitor. The HDR in games really sears the eyeballs, but in a good way. Fired up Mass Effect Legendary and all the colors are so vibrant. I think it does exceptionally well in fantasy, SCI-FI, and action-adventures games when there are many different colors to display. The deeper blacks are also a treat as my old IPS does not come close in contrast. I had a gaming monitor before and the latency was great, but QD-OLED has near instantaneous pixel response rate so another huge plus for competitive gaming. Having a KVM and 98W PD USB C are other bonuses nice to have. Also first time using a curved monitor and had no issues adapting to the 1700R curve. 3-year warranty that covers burn-in gives me a piece of mind.

Still squeals, whines, buzzes, etc.

CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750 (CMPSU-750AX) 750 W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750 (CMPSU-750AX) 750 W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Corsair 7 year warranty + great customer support. Rounded and flat cables. Modular. 80 Plus Gold. Great looks. Extremely quiet fan (does not turn on unless under load).

Cons: My Corsair HX620 really squeals, whines, buzzes, ticks, whatever you want to call it. It is that annoying electrical like noise that occurs under certain situations such as folding, playing certain games, and other graphical intensive applications. This AX750 also has the same symptoms, but just a tad quieter. Looks like Seasonic PSUs just are not compatible with my build (look below) and my build is quite common... I am not a PSU engineer, but quality is surely lacking somewhere in this PSU.

Overall Review: Main computer components: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Intel E8400 OCZ 120GB Vertex SSD XFX 5850 1GB I left the AX750 out of the case so I can pinpoint the sounds to the PSU. I have also tried it at another residence and with/without different UPSes. For me it squeals / buzzes when folding, playing Starcraft 2, Unigen Heaven (especially the ending screen), and slightly in furmark. I RMAed the 1st AX750 with Newegg only to find the 2nd also makes noise. I can RMA with Corsair for a third bout, but it is highly unlikely it will solve my issue.

Almost useless

Soleus Air HM2-15R-32 1500W Flat Panel Heater with Remote
Soleus Air HM2-15R-32 1500W Flat Panel Heater with Remote

Pros: Silent. Remote control.

Cons: Absolutely does not make an impact in anything bigger than a tiny room. Beeps on every button push and it is a loud annoying beep. Minor point, but it took hours and hours before the initial use odor went away.

Overall Review: Probably good for a small bed room when the doors are closed. The heater wouldn't even make a dent in the temperature for the room shown on the box. Box does state heats up to 150 sq. ft., but even at that room size you will probably still need to close the doors. I wonder how long this thing will last. Longer term reviews are somewhat unfavorable. I would not buy this heater again and would recommend shoppers to steer clear of this unit.
