Although they were originally designed to use the DB-25 connector, RS-232 ports and cables commonly use the DE-9 (aka DB-9) connector. This cable features a DE-9 (DB-9) male plug on each end. The cable is wired straight through with 28AWG wires. Each pin is connected to the corresponding pin number on the other end. The connector heads are molded onto the cable and are equipped with a pair of thumbscrews for securing the plug to the female socket.
