The GA-7PESH3 gives you nothing less than the possibility to build a full-blown super workstation within a standard full tower desktop case. With up to 16 cores, 32 threads, 4 double slot GPU/co-processors, and connections for a storage array of up to 13 drives, your workflow can be accelerated with many Teraflops of pure computing power.
The ultimate workstation board dedicated to CAD/CAE, simulation and modeling.
Deployable through a simple BIOS update, the support of the Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 V2 product family delivers the benefits of the 22nm tri-gate process technology to the high end server industry. Those benefits include, among others, higher frequencies, higher core counts (up to 12 cores / 24 threads) and larger last-level caches, but especially a much more varied mix of core/frequencies with notably the introduction of a new dual socket workstation segment. This new die shrink also allows for overall energy efficiency increase, with up to 30% average decrease in idle power consumption.
Finally, virtualization applications will benefit from increased performance thanks to the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) technology, and more security features are included in the mix as well, such as the Intel® Platform Protection Technology with OS Guard, and Intel® Data Protection Technology with Secure Key.
In order to deliver the biggest computing acceleration possible to advanced workstation applications, the GA-7PESH3 can be equipped with up to four NVIDIA Tesla and Intel Xeon Phi co-processing cards, or with up to four NVIDIA Quadro or AMD FirePro cards working together in SLI/CrossFire modes.
Always eager to go beyond the industry standards, GIGABYTE's engineering has enabled through its capabilities in design, PCB layout and BIOS fine-tuning the support of 1866 MHz memory frequency running at higher DIMM population (eight DIMMs per socket) where Intel's standard and the rest of the market's products will typically operate memory speed downgrade and support 1866MHz at lower DIMM population only (four DIMMs per socket). GIGABYTE therefore offers at launch on its 2011 socket based products this unique feature which will benefit to high density and memory intensive applications, such as high frequency trading, telecommunication networks, mobile data transfers, and so on.
The LSI 2008 controller provides SAS support for up to eight SAS 6Gbs drives. Improved performance and long-term stability make SAS drives ideal for 24/7 intensive workstation and mission critical applications:
The GA-7PESH3 includes GIGABYTE's digital PWM controllers, guaranteeing a dynamic power supply to the processors and memory with an ultra-fast response time. Built with advanced calibration tools, they allow to get the purest and most efficient electrical supply to date. When the CPU workloads vary in function of the applications running, the Intel Turbo Boost Technology will do a dynamic overclock of the CPU cores. This is where the digital PWMs outshine the previous analog solutions. This way the CPUs operations are much more stable, and the overall reliability of the system is greatly improved.
With the Aspeed AST2300 board management controller (BMC) and a separate management LAN port, this board offers comprehensive remote control options:
The VMware Ready program allows customers to quickly identify products and solutions from VMware's partners, which are optimized for VMware vSphere.
The VMware Ready logo certifies that this product addresses VMware's specific criteria in terms of integration and compatibility, and that it is ready to execute mission-critical applications and operations.
GIGABYTE certifies its server hardware with Red Hat Enterprise Linux to provide its customers with the confidence of knowing that their hardware systems are supported by Red Hat when they run Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
